Get this!
February 18, 2012

This jacket looks a lot better in person. I own a lot of North face jackets (Denali, venture, etc) and this one is my favorite thus far. It is pretty thick. It says fleece, but the outter material seems more durable. It's not furry, which is a good thing because my dog's fur always gets stuck in my denali jacket. The inside is like a microfiber fleece material that is really soft. When you pick up this jacket, it feels good. Like it feels quality. If you're on the edge with this jacket, get it! You won't regret it!

So far so good

I recently bought this for my boyfriend to wear on our golf trip. He really likes it...no complaints. He gets cold easily, so needed a jacket that was warm but flexible enough to not impede his golf swing.

DON'T HESITATE: BUY THIS JACKET!
June 25, 2011

So I have to admit that I have more Patagonia gear in my closet than anything else, but this jacket is rapidly becoming my "go to!" If I had to pick one word to describe it, it would be BALANCE: The WINDWALL 2 by the North Face is not too heavy, not too light--the fabric reminds me of English moleskin--it feels soft, yet tough/substantive (but without the weight); The WINDWALL 2 is not too big, not too small (despite my "fit" rating--it does seem to fit a little snug under the arms, otherwise it's perfect); . The build quality and attention to detail are superb: the stitching and zipper quality are robust enough that this jacket will clearly last for years and stand up to any reasonable outdoor demands you place on it. I REALLY like the elastic cuffs (a feature that patagonia rarely incorporates into their products). The high collar is also nice--and will clearly protect against the wind. This jacket is comfortably warm, but not too warm and could easily be worn to the office as well as to the campsite. As my title suggests, if you're on the fence about this jacket, don't be: it's a purchase you will NOT regret! And, BTW, don't consider buying it anywhere else--Altrec's commitment to quality and customer service/satisfaction are without compare. I would not shop anywhere else for outdoor gear--Period!

My Son Is Thrilled!
April 25, 2011

Gave this jacket to my 16 yr. old son for his birthday. It was the best gift that he received! He put it on immediately and kept it on for the rest of the evening. The fit was perfect. I am surprised that he took it off when he went to bed!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Great value

Nice Jacket
April 13, 2011

it is a very good jacket but it does fit a little on the small side. I liked the fact that it has the pocket on the front of the chest and also two inside pockets.

Great Jacket
April 10, 2011

I have a Windwall 1 which has given me great service but needed something a little more presentable due to excessive wear. I purchased the Windwall II thinking it would provide a little more protection than the Windwall 1 from cold winds. I love it! It's a tad bit warmer and constructed with slightly heavier material. You might want to go with the Windwall 1 if you are prong to being on the warm side, but if you are slight of build like me the Windwall II provides the extra protection that I like. Don't intend to use it in extreme conditions but for high sierra nights it will be ideal!

Got this for my son. He loves the jacket but it may be a little on the small side. He likes the fact that it is not bulky, yet performs well. It keeps the wind out and the warmth in!!

Very Satisfied
March 14, 2011

I am very satisfied with this jacket. I purchased the large, which fits very well. I first wore it when it was in the upper 20's with a cold breeze and felt very comfortable and warm as it offered some protection from the wind. Looking forward to using it for casual use and for backpacking

March 10, 2011

I've tried a few fleece jackets but none of them worked well in windy conditions like this one (and still breathable). Usually N.F. fits small but this item fit regularly.

Wind Wall
March 08, 2011

This is great jacket, it can protect you from wind, and rain doesn't pass through it so easily. If the jacket gets dirty you can easily clean it with a towel and a little bit of water.

Odd Cut
March 08, 2011

Purchased this jacket in closeout intending to use for winter/Fall hiking. I kept it but only after a couple of days debating return due to the tight fit in upper arm and under arm which I find somewhat uncomfortable. I fits as expected elsewhere, arm length, overall lenght etc, but close under arm. It fits something like a sports motorcycle jacket might only there is no pleat to allow for arm extention. I ordered the medium which usually is the recommended choice at my height of 5'9" and 150 lbs. Further to that the taper is not extended to the waist so there is an odd cinched look to the chest area. If there is a saving grace to that it is the jacket's stretchability. That aside I do find it to be functional as descibed, and has a soft suede-like feel. It is wind resistant compared to a standard fleece and warm enough that a single long sleeve T worn under was sufficient at 30 degrees. Also in spite of the seeming tightness I was able to get a mid-weight Hoody under it which I am sure will keep comfortably warm into the 20's. At the much reduced price at which I bought it, about 45% off the full price, I think it was a good purchase that I'll make use of, but at full price....eh, I don't think so. the close fitted chest and arms I would have to consider a major flaw, though otherwise a nice jacket. I'd give it a 3.5 if that were an option.

best north face in a many years!!!
March 07, 2011

I weigh 170lbs and 6 feet tall. I like my jackets to fit more snug but leave enough room for layers underneath if need be. I have had denalis, monkey furs, many other mountain hardwear and the north face jackets. None have fit me this well!!!! I love this jacket, it is perfect as a light jacket for spring or even in the winter if you layer enough under it. It has good windproofing ( Nothing spectacular ) but what really sold me is how the sleeves and waist fit exactly how i have wished all my other jackets would. I would highly recommend this jacket in size large to any one close to my size.

Great Jacket!
March 07, 2011

This is an excellent jacket. Very similar to the Apex Bionic but warmer, I think because of the fleece. It is not as wind resistant as the Bionic but is more wind resisteant when compared to other fleeces. I have worn it in 45 to 50 degree weather, with wind blowing in Texas, with a sweater on underneath and was not cold at all. The only negative is that the collar it too long. It definitely keeps the wind out, but I personally like the Bionic's collar. This is a very minor inconvenience and is only bad if you have a short neck like I do. Overall excellent jacket that I would recommend to anyone.

Perfect Mid-Weight Jacket
March 04, 2011

Great jacket for winter walks and bicycle rides. Windwall cuts the winds and the jacket provides incredible warmth for the weight. Best fits a trimmer figure or order a size up.

Windwall II
February 27, 2011

Very good quality..thicker than I thought it would be..definitely will keep you warm and protect from the wind in very cold, windy conditions.. The jacket fits a little snug and I would say that this jacket runs small. The zipper is a little tough to zip at the neck.

Bulletproof Fleece
February 22, 2011

Having owned several fleece tops over the years, my last was the North Face Windwall I which I still wear often. It has served me well from Alaska to Patagonia to New Zealand, but I just needed something a little warmer without going to true heavy weather gear. The Windwall II seems to be the trick. It's not as soft as the Windwall I but feels considerably more durable. I shopped for an alternative for a long time but for the money, this is a great buy. And what can be said about North Face, I'm a fan. Half of my closet is filled with their gear.

February 21, 2011

I bought this jacket for my fiance for valentine's day and he doesn't take it off! It is the perfect every day jacket for the cold weather... not bulky at all but very warm. It fits very well- he is tall and lean.

This jacket fit true to size and is extremely protective against the wind and cold weather in general. I've worn this jacket outside in the Poconos for 6+ hours at a time and stayed comfortably warm in January weather, and you simply do not feel the wind. The fabric is soft, flexible and deceivingly thin for the protection it provides against the elements - it's exactly what I expect from TNF and would recommend to anyone who hates the cold and windy weather.

Great Product, Sleeves a Bit Long
February 05, 2011

The Windwall 2 Jacket for Men is exceedingly warm and comfortable to wear. It is soft and feels nice against your skin. The only reason that I did not rate this jacket "5 Stars" is that the sleeves are about 2 inches too long. I'm 5'9", 180 lbs, with a normal build and I had to order the XL size to get a proper fit across my chest. The downside to getting room in the chest is that now the sleeves are just a bit too long. If you're wearing gloves, you won't even notice it. Overall, a great product but be careful with the sizing when ordering. If you wear layers underneath, order the next size up. If you plan on only wearing a light shirt underneath, then order true to size.

Great Value
January 23, 2011

this was a perfect purchase, from quality to customer service to fit! Ordered size up for layering, ordered for my son who is large in the shoulders & arms. Perfect fit. He walks to classes out in the wind and cold temperatures. Keeps the wind and cold out! Had a hard time finding this in store so this website was the perfect spot.

great jacket
January 20, 2011

I purchased this jacket as a gift, and was deciding between this jacket and the Denali. This jacket is not as plush as the Denali, but I think the windstopping element makes it a much warmer jacket overall. For that I think it is also a better overall value than the Denali. The fit seemed to be a little smaller than normal, so I ordered an XL when the person normally would wear a L. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase, and it shipped super quickly. I will definitely order through Altrec.com again!

Solid Fleece Jacket
January 13, 2011

I was looking for a new fleece for a while, because I wanted something that was extremely warm, comfortable, windproof, and most importantly not a bulky mess. I found the windwall II to be exactly that, where you can feel how thick the actual fleece is, but it is compact, and fits perfectly underneath an outer jacket. I found the jacket to be comfortable as an outer layer in mid 20's, and perfect, but sometimes too warm when an outer jacket is being worn. I can wear the fleece to work with no problem, because it fits very well, (6', 220 lbs.) looking clean and professional. The jacket is very soft to the touch, and is of high quality, where you can feel that it will last.

Love The North Face
January 05, 2011

Bought this jacket for my son. We live in the Washington State where it rains and the wind blows. My son found this jacket really cool for a 15year old, and at the same time shields him from the elements. Has a tight fit and would also serve as a liner under a shell. Perfect jacket for those 40 degree cold days here in the pacific northwest.

Windwall II
January 05, 2011

This is one of the best jacket I have bought in recent years. I have had this for one week but it promises to be the best I have purchased so far. I have never used fleece jacket and was not sure but this promises to be good hopefully.

Windwall II Jacket
December 27, 2010

Warmth is comfortable to 25 degrees. Blocks all wind. Sizing - I am a normal Large. Chest is a little snug, arms run too long for a large. One thing I don't like, the inside sleeves cling to your long sleeve shirt when putting on or taking off.

December 17, 2010

Excellent jacket, very warm and break the wind nicely. Black color is more like dark grey, but still excellent jacket.

Wonderful Gift
November 30, 2010

I bought this jacket as a gift for my boyfriend after he fell in love with it in a store. He usually wears a L/XL and the L was a perfect fit. He found the jacket very warm and he loved the fitted cut of the jacket. I would recommend this item.

nice looking
November 28, 2010

The Windwall II jacket is very nice looking; however size runs small. I think the jacket is cut to fit a slender person .

It works, but is overpriced
August 19, 2010

It works, but the exterior feels like standard cheap fleece, the inside is uncomfortable on bare skin, and the sleeves are a little shorter than the other North Face jackets I own. It is worth the $65 I paid, but not worth the $129 it is listed for.

Expensive but worth it
April 12, 2010

Very light and warm, worth the money.

Wears like a shell, protects like titanium!!
April 01, 2010

Super light weight jacket that will absolutely stop the wind from cutting you in half. I was thoroughly amazed at how effective this little number is. Initial glance and feel makes one think "fleece-like" but the wear is anything but that. The thinness of the material defies the warmth and protection it provides. Very satisfied with this purchase!

Windwall 2 jacket really does cut down the breeze!
March 29, 2010

The jacket is not totally windproof but let me tell you that it does come in handy on those dry & cold windy nights! As stated in other reviews this jacket is light & warm enough to wear on its own when the temperature is above freezing and common sense is needed to layer up when the temps dip below freezing. The chest pocket is easily accessible and the fit is true to size. The jacket can withstand a light drizzle but i recommend it for dry cold days without the bulkiness of other jackets.

Awesome green color and beautiful design jacket
March 20, 2010

I searched for a green color in town, I couldn't find one. I found it here at Altrec.com and a great discount. The free shipping was speedy. I tried it on right away (with a T-shirt) and walking around my sub in the 40 degree weather. I was comfortable in it. The Windwall 2 material is a little rough in the sleeves. I don't why TNF says it is about 1kg when my medium size is about 600g at most. No difference in weight with Windwall 1 counterpart. If I have to pick something negative to say about the jacket, I was surprised to see the collar of the jacket is black instead of gray color as in picture at this site or TNF web site. I think it is a mistake from TNF.

Excellent - Extremely satisfied customer
March 08, 2010

I bought this jacket recently to withstand the sudden cold weather that hit Houston, TX. Yes, we were actually down to teen in temperature in Houston in early 2010. I bought it to shield from the wind mostly. It worked out great. The jacket is deceptive thin when touching it but provides extremely well protection from wind. I love the technology they put into this jacket. Also, this fits very well and true to size. I'm 5'6'', 215 lbs with broad shoulder. I bought a L size and i have to say no jacket I own so far fits me this well. Over all, I'm extremely satisfied since this jacket is breathable that I can wear in 60 degree weather AND in low temperature in the low teens provided that I wear a long sleeve t-shirt as a layer.
