Patagonia Women's R1 Full-Zip Jacket

Description

It stretches, breathes, wicks, and warms - no wonder so many serious trail and mountain athletes use and abuse Patagonia's Women's R1® Full-Zip Jacket. And the full-zip front makes it even more versatile, from a midlayer in winter to a lightweight jacket on early spring mornings and alpine summer evenings. Plus, the fabric is now even better: we worked with Polartec® to fine-tune the high/low interior grid polyester fabric (Polartec Power Dry®) into an updated exclusive that's more breathable and compressible and has improved feel and durability while still maintaining its warmth. Two zippered handwarmer pockets sit above the harness line, and offset shoulder seams steer clear of pack straps. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

Specifications

  • Fabric: 6.8-oz Polartec® Power Dry® 93% polyester (41% recycled)/7% spandex. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program

  • High/low interior grid structure enhances compressibility, airflow and dry time
  • Jersey microfiber face speeds moisture wicking and allows for easy layering

  • Pockets: two zippered handwarmers for security

Put your wife in this!
February 14, 2012

Bought this for my perpetually frozen wife... the thaw has begun! She loves it and says that it kept her "toasty warm in 20* weather" Which is a good thing. She loves it and I wish I could buy her one for every day. :) (for as much as I paid for it- I probably could swing it!) Great jacket, great company.

Lightweight
February 14, 2012

I bought the Pearl in a small. The color on the website made it look more white than it is - it's more of a cream color, but I still like it. I'm 5'4", 125, and I really like the fit. It isn't too tight or fitted, but it's flattering. The sleeves are a touch long. It's much lighter weight than I expected. It's a nice layer under a heavier coat or a vest, and works nicely as a sweater when I get cold in the office. It'll also be nice in the spring and fall when it's cool outside.

Great Layer!
January 08, 2012

Purchased this jacket/under layer this fall and it can be worn either as a light jacket or as a layer under a warmer jacket. This alone is quite warm which is surprising, however patagonia has great quality and their warmth amazes me! This jacket will not disappoint whether you wear it as a jacket or a layer it is a must have for your gear collection!

great indoor/outdoor jacket

My sister needed a indoor jacket for my sister and suggested the r1s from patagonia. She took a look and tried this r1 and loved this instantly. Now she wears it wherever she goes and she says its worth the price.

Sharing is Caring
November 15, 2011

It's a funny story. My mother, who is one size larger than I am, purchased this jacket last fall. Being a dutiful, respectful daughter I immediately stole it. After several months of not seeing her new jacket, she decided to solve the problem by buying me my own. Unfortunately, being 5'3" and 110lbs, I did not fit into the S size she ordered for me! At least I know that I can always borrow hers. I fully approve of this jacket. Light but warm and very stylish.

I bought the black R1 jacket t three month ago and I wore every day . It is very light, comfortable and protect from wind. I ordered a different color "natural" as a second order. It would be good for this summer.

bring back last year's style
May 10, 2011

I bought the R1 jacket last year in black and have worn it everywhere. It is especially wonderful for long plane rides - no wrinkles, cozy, stretchy. This new design is much boxier. I miss the longer back and trim fit. May have to order down a size.

Great versatility
March 21, 2011

The Patagonia R1 Full-Zip jacket is my favorite Patagonia purchase in quite some time. It is fairly true to size (if anything, a bit on the large side) and cut in a flattering way. This jacket is perfect for layering, soft, warm, and well-made. It is the type of jacket that can be worn in spring and fall as well as winter so well worth the investment. I bought one in black and love it so much that I plan on adding a few more colors.

good 3 season jacket
February 08, 2011

It's lightweight but warm so I can envision wearing it 3 seasons a year. It's a good fit, not too fitted and not too loose. I love the color (amaranth). My one complaint is that the sleeves are too long but then I'm only 5'3" and the sleeves can be rolled or folded up.

Excellent! Slightly roomier than Previous Season
February 08, 2011

Fantastic! I enjoyed last season's R1 zip-up jacket and was hoping the "improvements" hadn't ruined it for me. Nope! Still the same, comfy, easy-to-wear, soft, packable jacket...and NO PROBLEMS with range of motion in the shoulders (as I had with the Patagonia nano puff...that's a different story ;-) I found this season's jacket slightly roomier in the body than the last season's cut, but sleeves are still long enough for me & the cut is still figure flattering. The ozonic green is a lovely blue-green teal. I love it! Not so big on the other colors...waiting for a nice golden color..or a warm orange perhaps. Why do women's colors always have to include pink & purple? Slight "con"---fuzzy collar gets pill-y and collects lint with use, in the wash. No biggie for me, but might matter to others. Anyway, highly recommended for travel, around the house, after work out, hiking, camping. Not so great as a wind breaker, but fabulous for exercise & as an additional, soft, warmth layer.

fav patagonia fabric ever
January 22, 2011

Ride horses and use this for layering. Not very windproof, but for activities involving quickly changing body temps, it's tops! W layers and a vest, I'm always good. And the colors are so pretty and the shapes so flattering, I love to wear it all day. Has become my go-to jacket. Love the 1/4 zip just as much. Price seems high and I try to catch on any sale, but love enough to pick up one a season at regular price! That says lots for this bargain shopper!!

Nice jacket
January 21, 2011

I was a little surprised at the roominess of the jacket given the description as form-fitting, but I have not owned a Patagonia jacket before. It is very soft and comfortable, but does not seem like the fabric will snag easily. I have not tried it as a mid layer for skiing yet, but it has been great worn alone for cool days. The green color is a nice teal, true to the picture.

Great jacket!
October 23, 2010

I love this jacket! It's light weight, but warm...and stylish. According to the size charts, I should have ordered a medium (I have a size 36-37 bust). Instead, I ordered the small. It fits perfectly.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever

Awesome jacket, good for multiple seasons
August 16, 2010

I bought this jacket because my husband loves his Patagonia hoodie he received over the holidays. I wanted something lightweight but that could be layered in chilly weather. This is it! The color is rich, the material is cozy, and the fit is comfortable- I wear a small or x-small, and the small gives me the room to layer that I was hoping for. Excellent buy!

Patagonia perfects the fleece
June 27, 2010

Once again, I am impressed with Patagonia's quality. The color, the texture, the thickness are all perfect for around the house, on cool summer nights, or as a layer in cold weather. The fit is appropriate as a not-too-tight and not-too-boxy for athletically built gals.

Great Light Jacket
April 18, 2010

This is a great jacket for a cool day or under a shell for a colder day. It is warm for its light weight.

great!
March 25, 2010

I have wanted a Patagonia jacket for quite some time. After purchasing this one, I am convinced that I will be coming back to Patagonia for more. The quality of their products are great. This jacket is perfect for a cool morning or evening, or lounging around in during the day.

Great layering piece or light jacket for spring
March 08, 2010

The R1 jacket is a nice layering piece in colder weather, but also works well as a lightweight jacket/sweater in the spring. The fit is true to size, with a nice shape. I find the sleeves a bit shorter than the pullover R1, but the jacket is more flattering than the pullover. Overall, highly recommended.

Great layer, even in the South
February 03, 2010

Very nice, lightweight jacket that is perfect for layering too. We had some freezing weather and it wasn't warm enough on its own, but with a couple pieces underneath, it kept me plenty warm. I am a fairly warm-natured person and don't get cold too easily. I look forward to using in on my next ski trip as a under layer. Very comfortable and form fitting. Exactly what I was looking for. True to size

Super Fleece
January 28, 2010

This is the first Patagonia jacket I have purchased. The workmanship is solid. The quality of materials that they use are top notch. The Jacket itself is warm enough for ccoler days and great as a mid layer. Deffinately hooked on Patagonia.

Quality Jacket
December 26, 2009

Considering how light weight the jacket is, it is warm. I would definitely use this for layering when the temperatures warrant. The jacket lives up to the Patagonia quality and should wash up beautifully as I have found with their other clothes do.

Great, functional jacket
December 07, 2009

Good mid-weight layering piece for fall & winter sports. Like the longer length, but found the bottom/waist a little wider and less trim than I'd have liked- maybe should have bought a small for a true layering piece but was concerned the bust would be too tight (for ref, I'm 5'11, 145lbs and purchased a medium).

Warm and comfortable
November 15, 2009

This is my first piece of Patagonia wear. I wore it as a layer yesterday climbing in the Sierra's. I like that the sleeves are a bit longer so when I reach it doesn't ride up my forearm. I'm 5'7" 150# and the medium fit me fine.

Just want I was looking for
October 29, 2009

Perfect for California weather. Lightweight but warm. Great Patagonia quality as usual.

Just what I wanted
October 23, 2009

Very slim fit and seems to run a size small. I ordered a medium, which is my usual size, but found it to be too big in the waist. Small is perfect everywhere except the bust which is a bit snug only if the jacket is fully zipped. I don't wear it that way often and am trusting that the fabric will stretch a bit if i do.
