Fits well under helmet, which is the only reason to buy it. Bought similar MH products, uniformly high quality. Only got 4 stars because, after all, it's just a helmet liner.

Great Baselayer Beanie
September 06, 2011

Great beanie for brisk 25 degree mornings but also is one of the best baselayer beanies out there. I am an avid skier and I hit the backcountry in -5 with some minor wind and with this underneath the Mountain Hardwear Dome Ruinart Beanie which I also bought here on Altrec and I stayed very comfortable. Stretchy material to allow a snug fit and extremely light weight and folds down to virtually nothing. See pictures below to get a better look at the material and how the beanie fits in general.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Warm & Packable
May 04, 2011

Light beanie that you could almost forget you have. Packs into any pocket and thin enough to put underneath a helmet. Great color (espresso). Would not take it on a blustery day, but a cool dry night would be perfect!

Pros: Ease of use, Great value

Nice Lightweight Beanie
February 09, 2011

A nice option to have. Lightweight, provides full coverage over ears. Good for a windbreak. Fits tightly over a medium sized head. If you own any of the Mountain Hardwear Butter shirts, you know how soft the fabric material is. Not meant for extreme cold weather activities, but there are plenty of other options for that. In mild temperatures it works well to retain some heat. Perfect for high activity in twenty degree temps. Heavier weight than a cotton bandanna. A good all around product.

Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
Comfort: 3 / 5

nice tight beanie, not for cold weather
December 07, 2010

Cool weather not cold weather running beanie. Also small and tight on my head. However, great to wear under my helmet while cycling. But, I love the Mountain Hardwear "butter" material and have a couple of long sleeve shirts made out of the same material, very breathable and wicking.

Pros: Performance, Great value
Comfort: 3 / 5
Durability: 3 / 5

Good Lightweight Beanie
December 05, 2010

Good lightweight beanie. This hat is exactly what I needed. It is lightweight, easily stored in a pocket when necessary and moves moisture away from my head well. This purchase was to replace a lightweight Patagonia hat that I lost last year. While this is a good hat I prefer the Patagonia.

VERY thin
October 10, 2010

This is very thin, not what I expected, but will do the trick in chilly weather or when being highly active in the colder months. Would recommend the Blazar Running Beanie over this, worth the extra $5.

Pros: Great value

great for training
March 10, 2010

The name fits. It's soft as butter. Surprisingly warm considering how thin the material is. Not windproof or insulated, but the perfect lid for aerobic exercise in cold weather. Fits perfectly under a helmet for comfortable biking in 30 - 40 degree weather.
