Great active wear pants!
March 14, 2012

I'm an avid cyclist and trail runner and spend most my free time outside doing active sports. I've made a decision to try to drive less and ride more doing errands, etc... I wanted a pair of pants that would stretch and allow me to ride to public places and shop without getting all the typical stares from the locals. I wear a liner short under these pants and they are the bomb! Zip pockets keep my wallet in place and the legs are articulated and bottoms narrow enough that I can ride without snagging the chain ring. I am very picky about my gear and when the package arrived I put them on and headed out for a 30 mile gravel grinder to put them to the test. The M3 softshell is comfortable and does what I purchased them to do. These are keepers and I'll be watching to see if I can pick up the same pants in another color. I'm 5'7" and weigh 145 pds. 29-30" wasit, 30" inseam. Purchased the size small. I always suggest inquiring about inseam length. These pants were perfect. I did order a different model of Marmot pants from another source and ended up with pair 2" too long. Had zippers and scuff guard and I tried to make them work. Not so friendly with chain ring. Now altered to 3/4 pants with loop and button closure at the calf. I love the M3 material.

great pants
January 13, 2012

Been wearing these in XL-long for six months on my 6'3" 205 lb. frame and they are awesome. Very well designed, durable, and above all, comfortable. They are very capable on the trail or around camp, but with the right shirt look good out to dinner as well. Cannot recommend them highly enough, though they are on the spendy side. Even so, I'd buy them again.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Oh boy... Love 'em.
December 10, 2011

I read a lot of reviews on different soft shell pants, and was surprised by the cult like following that the Scree had obtained. I love gear, but these people were gushing. "I have 3 pairs.", one gearhead raved. Why would anyone buy 3 pairs of the same technical pant, I wondered, so I decided to try em out. Ten minutes after their arrival I was ordering my 2nd pair, and the next morning I was drafting Marmot an email asking to make more colors. The most comfortable pant I have ever had on. Highly water repellent. Great for cold mornings that turn into nice days. Try them on and you will understand why all the hype. Marmot wins. Especially at this price point (although, I suspect I could not find a pair of softy pants that I would wear over these at any price).

Pros: Build quality, Great value, Performance, look great, marmot guarantee

Outstanding softshell pants
April 21, 2011

I am 6'1" and 210 lbs. The XL fits me well. I use these pants for everything from snowshoeing at 15 degrees with a midweight base layer to hiking at 50 degrees with no base layer. They are flexible, breathable, and windproof. Kept me warm on Adirondack peaks with the wind howling! Sheds snow and light rain. Only con: because they are polyester, they do generate static cling to my legs when not wearing a baselayer. Annoying, but does not effect function. Still the best outdoor pants I've ever tried!!!

Cons: static cling

just what I wanted
April 18, 2011

True to Marmot standards these pants do exactly what they are designed to do. The fit is true, quality is great. The cuffs are a little tight over buckle boots, but they stretch well enough. These pants are not too warm, yet the wind doesn't get through. Perfect for doing laps in the back country.

wish I would have found these pants long ago
February 10, 2011

The marmot scree pant has changed my life. I can now though these pants on and tackle anything regardless of the weather, and they look great. I use them biking around town, and they keep over 90% of the wind and over 95% of the water out. They are comfortable and fit well, I feel that I can wear them to lunch at a downtown restaurant and not stand out. The material is comfortable and the pant is very well made.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, very comfortable

I own this in both black and Tarmac. They fit very well and keep me very warm. We have had some pretty cold days this winter in New England. These pants can keep me warm during the coldest days. They don't get wet in snow.

excellent pants
February 01, 2011

I bought these pants for hiking and snow shoveling. They fit great, I'm 5'9' 140 lbs and the small is perfect. They're not meant to insulate but they work great with a base layer in frigid conditions. I especially like the stretchy material which provides unrestricted movement.

Marmot Scree pants
January 30, 2011

I found the Scree pants by Marmot to fit well and be water repellent while mountain biking. I especially like the the free movement i get with the stretch soft-shell fabric. I purchased these pants for winter mountain bike riding, to be worn over a light base layer, they have really fit the design i was looking for.

January 26, 2011

I bought these pants for a trip to Mt. Washington in NH. The reviews all said they were great pants but the sizing was weird. I am 5'7" and I wear a 30/30, 30/29 in jeans and the medium Scree's fit my waist great and werent too tight around the legs. They were a little long though. This really isnt a problem because while wearing boots they will just gather at the ankle and not drag on the ground. Other than that, they are super windproof and seem pretty waterproof. I havent worn them yet in any torrential downpours. The quality of the contruction is superb and the pocket zippers work well (which seems to be a rarity in outdoor clothing). Id recommend them in a heartbeat.

Great pair of pants
January 13, 2011

These are really nice pants. I'm not as sure as to how warm they'll keep you when the temperature really drops. You may have to rely on some that have a fleece lining. This has the mesh like lining inside, which according to other review does pretty well. They are a little snug (more than I am used to), but are really comfortable and look good. IF you like your pants loose, you may consider sizing up. These were also on sale when I bought them, so they were a good value for me.

Excellent softshell pants.
January 10, 2011

I was surprised at how well these pants performed, they are very lightweight and soft, however I have found them to be every bit as windproof, breathable and tough as much more expensive Schoeller Dry-skin technical pants. Over a warm base-layer i have found them to be comfortable in extreme conditions - down to minus 10 Fahrenheit - with high winds. They are extremely stretchy, not impeding movement at all, and are well made with zips on all pockets, and the legs cinch down tight to keep out wind, debris and moisture. Overall an excellent product that is in my opinion the best in its class and excellent value for money

Soft shell did well in wind
November 30, 2010

I bought this soft shell for layering later in the winter, but I was able to use them on a jog this past Saturday. It was extremely windy, but my legs didn't feel anything. I bought a large. I'm 5'10" 170lbs. Usually have 31-32 inseam. 34/36 waist. I haven't tested it in the rain yet.

this marmot M3 softshell did not disappoint indeed. cool and breathable during warm conditions and blocks wind effectively during windy and cold conditions. you can wear it in varying conditions. love the warm pockets and zippers around the pants. great for storage and keeping the hands warm. great price and great shipping. fast and efficient and arrives in great condition.

Great pants, very comfortable.
August 12, 2010

I got these pant for hiking, backpacking. They are very flexible softshell pants which allow lots of freedom of movement. I also like the fact that you don't have to wear a belt with them.

great softshell pant , soft and fits perfect repels light rain and tough

Great Pants!
March 27, 2010

These pants are great. They are very comfortable, breathable, & well made. I am 6' and the regular length is perfect. They are slim-fitting but the super stretchy material more than compensates. I ordered tarmac thinking it was a shade of brown but it is actually a shade of green. No worries; I didn't buy them to make a fashion statement.

Great pants for travel! Soft shell works great in all conditions! Actually bought another pair since I loved the first one. I highly recommend these pants!

Excellent pants!
January 25, 2010

When I first received these pants they were thinner than I expected but when I took them on a 3 hour snow shoe trip in mid 30's sunny day I was warm and dry just wearing these pants. Very comfy and a great look. I based my size choice off another review on this site and it was right. I am 5'5" 143 lbs and I got the Medium/Short they have a relaxed fit. Though the fit on the waist is just a little loose, nothing a belt wont fix.

Great pant so far!
January 20, 2010

I love these pants so far. Great for wearing under fishing or hunting waders since they stretch so well. I'm 6'2 205lbs and the regular large fits great. I wore them in the rain tonight for the first time and they do a fine job of shedding water. Considering a second pair.

Great for any activity!
January 15, 2010

These fit very well, I am 6'2" and 180lbs. I got them in a long but I would say that a regular would probably fit better unless one has really long legs. The material is very stretchy and probably loses a bit of durability to that but gains great range of motion. I personally think the trade off is worth it. The seams are not sealed as the tape probably cant stretch that much but the material its self is nearly waterproof. Also the boot zips and hem cord at the end of the leg is a nice touch. Would buy again without hesitation!

Everyone SCREEEE
January 04, 2010

These may be the best pants for anything out in the cold from dry to drizzling weather. The Scree's material is a little thicker then a basic nylon hiking pant but not quite insulated. The material is Marmot's M3 which is very stretchy and comfortable. If you are out in a drizzle then you will be OK, don't glissade in these.

Nice fit and good wieght for climbing, backcountry, alpine
December 26, 2009

Fits really well for 6' tall 165 lbs. Not too long (reg) so won't catch on heels while climbing. Wish there were skiing scuff guards on inside ankle.

Great All Around Mountain Pant
October 13, 2009

These pants are great for pretty much anything outdoors in cooler weather. They are very comfortable and the 4 way stretch allows them to move with you. They are a tailored fit, but not form fitting. Size up. I have am a 30/30, and the medium short is a much better fit than the small. Only complaint I have is that there are no vents; however, they breathe pretty well so not too huge of a problem.

nice light weight backpacking pant
June 14, 2009

very nice pant. Fits true to size chart. A med/long fits perfect. (32waist/33inseam) can't wait to wear them on my trip to Mt.Washington, N.H. in Sept.
