Description

Whether you wear the Keen Women's Targhee II shoe for trail running or just roaming around the campsite, you're going to feel a comfortable difference over conventional waterproof active wear shoes. That's because unlike other trail running shoe manufacturers who opt to use the same waterproof membranes found on practically every running shoe on the market, Keen took a route less traveled and used a new eVENT® membrane fabric with Dry System Technology for better breathable comfort in wet weather. The difference is one that you can feel. Most waterproof/breathable technologies require that perspiration condenses to moisture before it can pass through the membrane. eVENT® membrane fabric allows sweat to pass through in vapor form, so your feet don't feel soaked in sweat like you would in other weatherproof trail running shoes. The heel of the Women's Targhee II features Keen's S3 heel support structure, a special shock-absorbing design that's engineered to support your foot on impact, minimizing your chances of twisting an ankle on rolling terrain. Like other Keen performance shoes, the Women's Targhee II is all about stability, but if you're looking for drier socks at the end of the day, the new Dry System Technology is worth checking out - especially if you forgot to pack extra socks for the return trip home.

My go to shoe
April 20, 2012

I practically live in these shoes. I hike at least 90 miles a month. These shoes support my foot, knees and hips in rough terrain. I feel sure footed. They keep my feet dry even in a steady rain. They are easy to lace up tightly. There is plenty of room in the toe-box so that my feet do not feel cramped.

Pros: waterproof, stability, comfortable

Good Purchase
March 02, 2012

I am a Keen shoe fan, and Targhee delivers what it promised, four wheel drive for your feet. I love how Keen shoes are ready to hit the trail or road right out of the box, and Targhee didn't disappoint. I slipped them on, had plenty of room in toe-box, super arch support, a sturdy comfortable hiker. I test drove them on a 6 mile hike, no blisters, no sore feet! The reason I did not give the shoe as excellent rating is the shoe design has the hiker at not quite a mid-rise, so it sits just below my ankle and can dig in. Overall Targhee is a good hiker and I would recommend it.

Pros: hit the trail right out of box no breaking in
Cons: sits right below ankle and digs in

Love these shoes
February 18, 2012

I just received these shoes today and they are so comfortable! I don't see a break-in period at all for these. They are very lightweight and flexible; yet, they have a sturdy foundation. Colorado here I come in my new Keens!

Pros: fit, lightweigt, flexible, sturdy

GREAT WINTER WEAR
February 13, 2012

I love waterproof shoes with a good sole that insulates against the cold concrete floors where I work. They have good toe space and are wide enough for my one foot with a bunion. I DID NOT need to order a half size larger like the manufacturer recommended on their site. They are also comfortable and cute.

Cons: they feel a little low cut at the heel

Love these shoes!
January 07, 2012

I was hesitant at first about purchasing these shoes, but I can assure anyone that I am so happy and 100% satisfied that I broke down and bought them. I 5"1' and 103 lbs and normally wear a size 7 shoes, so when buying my Keens I also bought a size 7 because I like my hiking shoes to fit snuggly. They were a perfect fit. They are a little bit pricey, but in my opinion they are worth every penny!! I have hiked many times in these bad boys and even took them with me to trek across both Alaska and then New Mexico! They provide great support around the ankles as well as nice traction on the bottom for people who are doing some serious hiking. Seeing that I've had these shoes for just over two years and have hiked a hundred or so miles in them, they have held up great. Almost in as good of condition as the day I bought them. I have gotten multiple compliments on their appearance as well...Let's be honest, more hiking shoes are ugly!! They are even comfortable enough to get me around campus in East Tennessee...I have no complaints on this pair of shoes and would recommend Keens to anyone. Since this product was so great, I now own 5 pairs of Keen shoes! Love this buy!

Pros: ankle support, traction, sturdy soles, appearance

Ran 3 miles in these...
December 17, 2011

I love these shoes for hiking but on vacation, I forgot my running shoes, so I put these on and ran 3 miles on pavement. Although they were heavy, my feet felt great. I was very surprised. I also had to cross a stream in these, and although my feet got wet, they really helped to keep them from freezing. It didn't help that others with me had freezing feet, so we all ended up going back to our camp early to dry off.. Love these and would recomend them highly!!!

Pros: comfortable, nice look

My favorite Keen
November 26, 2011

I have a pair of five-year old Targhee I 's that still look & feel great, and are still marvelously waterproof. When I saw this pair on sale, I didn't hesitate to order. Older pair, which I bought to walk my dog through dewy pastures & then some, will be gracefully moved on to non-mucky farm work, while the new ones will go out in public.

These Keens Rock!
October 05, 2011

Pros: These shoes are waterproof. This means I can tromp through the morning dew and not worry about my feet getting wet. Yay! Comfortable. As with with most Keens, these give ample room in the toe-area, while snugly fitting the heel. For me, this is the best fit. WARNING: This model tends to run a little small. I usually wear a 9.5-10, but I bought these in a 10 and I'm glad I did. The 9.5 would have been too small, especially with a thick pair of socks! I have worn these shoes all day, and my feet did not feel fatigued at all (and I suffer from plantar fasciitus!) Awesome arch support, A+ in my book. Style/Color: I bought the slate black/seneca color, and I love them! The color is feminine, without being too frilly. Cons: My feet got a LITTLE bit too warm (I think due to the waterproof factor/breathability) but this didn't bother me overmuch. I'd rather have warm feet than cold!

Pros: waterproof, roomy toe-area snug heel, good arch support, style/color
Cons: this model runs small

Rugged & Comfortable
August 14, 2011

Bought it for the wife and she loves it. Great for hiking and even long shopping campaign! Fits well, comfortable and rugged such that I had to pick up another pair just in case Keen (or Altrec) discontinues it someday.

disappointed
July 13, 2011

Had to return this lovely, lightweight shoe for 1/2 size larger. Shoe also runs narrow in comparison to my other hiking shoes, except for wide heel. I wish all shoes, at least each brand, were consistent in sizing.

awesome shoes!
July 12, 2011

I absolutely love Keen shoes! I have owned several pairs and put many miles on all of them on all kinds of terrain. The only reason I get new pairs is because I have narrow heals and I tend to rub through the back fabric on all of my shoes in time. I would and have recommended Keen shoes and these specifically to others!

Pros: comfortable

Keen hikers
June 02, 2011

I have a wide toe box high arch sz 7, D width...looked for a durable hiker shoe for out West... Tried these shoes on in a sz 7 1/2. these shoes fit comfortably.. the look of being a little clunky style had to grow on me..the heel was a little loose but an advantage. I now have these as my go to outdoor shoes...gardening...errands...wear to work for long hrs standing...THE MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES EVER...COMPLIMENTS FROM ALL THE HIKERS NOTICING HOW THEY HANDLED THE ROCKS... NEVER BEEN HAPPIER FOR EASE OF ON OFF WEAR, NO RUBBING ON HEELS

Beyond my expectations
May 28, 2011

I have worn my Keen Targhee shoes numerous times since ordering them in February. My main objective was to find a WATERPROOF shoe for hiking, snow shoeing, walking the dog in the rain and rainy soccer games. I could not be happier with my purchase. My feet stayed completely dry after being out in poring down rain for my son's soccer game for the entire half of the game. They not only are waterproof but extremely comfortable. I wear a 7 1/2 shoe and that is what I ordered. I still have room for a thicker sock if needed. I also appreciate that even with those wonderful qualities they are not clunky looking on my feet. I am extremely happy with this Keen product that I am looking into a Keen sandal to purchase for an upcoming 3 week trip to Europe.

Pros: waterproof

Boot is better for those w/ narrow heels
May 26, 2011

I have a pair of the Targhee II boots that I love, so I thought I would try the shoe-version, too. As others have stated, if you have a narrow heel, do not get the shoe version. It was almost like wearing flip-flops, the shoe heel area was so big. Narrow heels work with the boot version since the ankle support will keep the shoes on.

Very comfortable
May 24, 2011

I bought these shoes for trail walking with my dog. So far they have held up quite well. They are very comfortable to walk in from the first time I put them on - no need to break them in. Walking through wet grass is no problem. They still look nice even after walking through wet and recently mowed grass. They also do very well absorbing shock when walking on roads. Overall, very nice shoes.

Sturdy, but toe box too large
April 28, 2011

I really wanted to love these shoes and reviews were promising. They were simply too large. I wear (and ordered) a size 10 as I was looking for a good waterproof light hiker. Unfortunately, the toe box was too large and one of my heels kept lifting up. Nice, sturdy looking shoe, but just not the right one for me. I'll be returning.

Pros: sturdy
Cons: too large in the toe box

Shoes For My Wife

Extreme Comfort Hiking Shoe
April 16, 2011

The shoes are durable and comfortable. Even after a few days in a row of walking in them, I looked forward to putting them on again. At first, I had to re-tie a few times because they would become loose while hiking. Over time, the laces did not loosen as frequently. They protected my feet from getting sore when hiking over rocky terrain. They proved waterproof in shallow water and light snow. I wear a size 7 shoe in other hiking and running shoes and these fit true to size. And they look great on my feet.

Wanted them to work for me.
April 01, 2011

This shoes has every feature I was looking for in hiking boots: light, dry, stable. I own Keen sandles and snowboots and love them. I found the sz 10.5 foot length to be great, but as other reviewers noted, there was too much heal slippage. I have wide toes, not a wide heel. Rats!

Pros: light dry stable
Cons: heel slippage

Foot-worthy shoes
March 27, 2011

Bought both the sz 9.5 and 10 to compare; Keen sizing has been hard for me to nail down, only because one foot is bigger than the other and I have 2 pair of Keens now, 1 is sz 9.5 and 1 in sz 10. Since I plan to use these for hiking, I opted to keep the 10s and will wear some thicker socks. Wore them in by using for a busy day of errands and gardening, they performed admirably and kept my feet comfortable and well-supported, and at the moment I have a fractured pinky toe which didn't get pinched on the side or jammed in the toebox - great construction for toe protection. Laces stayed tied, cushioning more than adequate, good ankle support and awesome tread/grip. Once the broken toe is healed I can't wait to head to the trails with them!

New favorites
March 26, 2011

I am an average hiker, and wanted something other than sneakers to wear on the trails. I was concerned about comfort, and I didn't want a heavy shoe. Since I received these in winter, I have not had the opportunity to where them hiking yet, but I have worn them everywhere else. They are super comfortable, and there was no breaking in needed. I put them on and my feet were happy. Granted, you can't wear them everywhere, they don't really go with a suit or dress, but I put them on any chance I can get. Great shoes.

it's a shoe that fits like a glove
March 13, 2011

true to my size (10), great arch support, traction, and the fit is like a "hug" for your foot. walks, hikes, everyday errands...these little guys are go everywhere!

Loose fit in heel
March 06, 2011

I went with the recommendation of a 1/2 size larger and was not disappointed with the fit, accept in the heel. Read one other review with this same problem. The shoe fit everywhere else, but the heel slipped too much. A half size smaller would have made the length too small. Did not work well for my foot at all. Returned them.

First Keen's and won't be my last
February 27, 2011

Received these a few weeks ago and have worn them almost every day at work and home. I work at a zoo so I am on my feet all day in all conditions and these have been great. Comfortable right outta the box. I ordered a 9 as i saw most reviewers say to order a 1/2 size up. Everything fits great just a bit loose around my ankle making my heel slip a bit. It was fixed with thicker socks. The toebox is good and wide leaving my toes plenty of room to spread out. I had been wearing Merrell's prior to these and they squished my toes. Can't wait to get out on the trails with these in a few weeks for a little backpacking trip!

My Favorite Shoe!
February 26, 2011

I love the Targhee II! After purchasing the mid-cut version last summer, I knew I would have to have a low-cut as well. They are the most comfortable shoe ever! I have replaced my athletic style shoes with these. They are perfect for outdoor activities like walking and hiking, but they work for most any casual activity. I love that they are waterproof as I enjoy walking on a local trail in the mornings while the grass is still wet with dew. Other pros are roomy toe box and the fact that the laces stay tied. I can't really think of any cons!
