I used this in Mt Shasta this September and it worked well for me! We started summit attempt at 3am, I stashed my Julbo Sherpa in the napoleon pocket of my jacket and when the sun starts to come out, just pulled it out and wear it. It feels like nothing when you're wearing it. It really protects your eyes against the sun. Side shields are very effective and it's removable, can be use around town. Overall, good buy.

The Best Sunglasses I've Ever Owned !

Aloha Everyone! The Julbo Sherpa glacier sunglasses are the best I have ever owned! My eyes are sensitive to the more intense light of the summer months and I would frequently get headaches as a result of poor shielding from most sunglasses out there. After trying my first pair over a year ago I was sold on these. In fact I used them so much that the rubber over the earpieces wore out, after calling Julbo recently they sent me two replacement sets of earpieces! Because of Altrec.com & Julbo I have now bought two extra pairs of these glacier sunglasses and have made a loyal customer out of me! Mahalo Altrec.com & Julbo!!

I've been wearing these glasses for a month and love them. The only issue is that the tip of the rubber cover on the arms fell off, just the end 1/8 inch. Other than that really nice glasses, good fit, nice style, and you cant beat the price.

Sharp look, excellent price for glacier goggles. Seem sturdy, brown color actually looks better than the picture. Leather on the side is a bit stiff, I may rub in some conditioner of some kind to prevent rubbing on my cheek.

I am on my fifth pair and still love them. The only time I have ever had to replace them is if I dropped them on cement and scratched the lenses or lost them. In general, though, I have found them very scratch resistant.

These are fantastic glasses for running, hiking, climbing and other outdoor activities. Wrap-around ear pieces allow for a tailored fit that won't let them fly off in windy or extreme conditions. Side shields are removable for driving or other non-sport activities, should you not need or want them. ALTREC really super place to get them! Fast shipping and great customer service!

Cataract surgery alternative

After cataract surgery, I was given a pair of wide-body sunglasses, the kind old folks wear while driving their Cadillacs at 5mph !! Had to find something cooler looking with the same protection. Sherpas are the answer, though the little nub on the side shields break off too easily. I keep one scratched up pair for physical work, and one for driving and soccer refereeing. Great product.

The Sherpas are great! So far I haven't gotten to wear them skiing, but they are very comfortable, and are good looking shades too. The support on the ear holder things made of rubber, which seems kind of weird, but they don't move around at all once I have them on. My only complaint is that the case that is included can't seem to fit the glasses, no matter how I put them in. Other than that, great product.

These glasses are very comfortable although I can't speak of the durability of them as of yet. One thing I was pleseantly suprised with was the optics wich are excellent given the low price. I didn't expect the glare to be completely removed in bright situations as it was.

I actually bought another pair of Julbo glasses but these have to be my favorites. They are comfortable, very relaxing, nice on the eyes, love the neck cord, thanks! These by far are my favorite pair of glasses, I wear them to work all the time, outdoors alot and really need them, my eyes feel so much better at the end of the day and I'm not squinting anymore. Thank you very much for the nice glasses and they came through the mail very fast.

The lenses are well designed to stop reflected light. The only negative is that the curved temples cannot be made tight enough.

These are awesome shades for sure, really lightweight and flexible, the lens are real nice and very relaxing to look through, reduces a lot of eye strain and the side protection eliminates any glare. Will be ordering a second set to have around just in case.

Tough lenses set in “ok” frames

These are typically exceptional Julbo lens; crystal clear and tough as nails. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the frames. They are reasonably comfortable and functional and stick to your head even through rain and sweat. I wouldn’t recommend them as everyday wear though. If you’re looking for a backup pair or loners, these will not disappoint.

Great sunglasses. They really lessen the glare and are very comfortable. However, I cannot run with them while the sides are on because they are a bit large for my face. With the sides off, they're perfect.

No need to spend more $$ anywhere, this is all you need. Functional, affordable . . . all mountaineering products should follow suit making excellent, quality products like this and turn away from ridiculous mark-ups that we see almost everywhere.

I've owned several expensive models yet most all of them don't come close to the Sherpas. They're simply great - light in weight, perfect lenses, great design. They're perfect for mountaineering, biking, driving, water skiing - you name it. (Remove the side panels if you want to use them for driving). I've never received compliments on sunglasses before but got several after I got these. And also - Altrec was great about shipping - painless and fast transaction.

The Sherpa sunglasses are even better than I expected. I own another (much more expensive) pair of Julbo's, so I knew they were THE ones to use, especially in bright alpine snow areas and sunny days near water, where reflections car really be a problem. But I thought that for 30-some dollars these would be throw-aways. They're not. In fact, I find them to be more comfortable than the other Julbos, perhaps because of their light weight and their easily-adjustable ear stays. They're the best, both in performance and value. Highly recommended.

Light weight and very flexible make the Sherpa very versitile for all purpose use. This is my 2nd style of Julbo glasses that I use in Afghanistan, and they are great. They are great for the $$ and all you will need..

The Sherpa sunglasses are truly the best pair I have ever owned. I've worked in an eye clinic and can beleive these are the best offered and worth much more than the selling price. Living here in Alaska with severe sun(soon to be up until after midnight each day) the Sherpas do great. With the outer glare coating and the inner tint, I am well pleased. I've tried to buy after market side blinders for conventional sunglasses to no avail. We'll have snow and glare ice till June, then fishing on the waters thru August. The comfort temples(padded ear wraparounds)I dig, they don't fall off in strenuous activity. I really like the Brown/ Rose tint that cuts eye strain dramatically and still have true color definition. I'm buying another pair in case they get discontinued! I recommend them to everyone!

Lens seemed to become scratched easily

These glasses fit beautifully, the ear pieces hold the glasses securely to your face without being uncomfortable, and the side shields fit well/work well. However, even though I was careful to protect the lenses while wearing and being sure to store them in the included case, the right lens became scratched. I still wear them, however!

I have owned many sunglasses in my life, and go through them much too often. I have had these a short while but they are great. They fit my face great, and do not slip. I am a professional photographer and appreciate good protection for my eyes. I could not be more pleased with these, plus I got a great bargain- the best of both worlds.

The Sherpa's have what you need in the mountains, with their dark lens and side guards. They are comfortable across the nose and around the ears. The wrap-around ear piece grips without pinching or pulling, and will stay on when you are playing on the beach. I've worn mine on a jet ski many times ( with a cord just in case ) and not lost a pair. Summary, great performance at a reasonable price. I keep a spare in each vehicle, ski bag, and backpack.
