Helly Hansen Men's Stripe Crew

Description

A classic performance base layer, the Helly Hansen Stripe Crew for men is a favorite choice among skiers, climbers, sailors, kayakers and backpackers. Compared to traditional thermal underwear designs, the Stripe Crew is exceptionally breathable and wicks away perspiration considerably faster than some active foundation apparel. Helly Hansen applied flat lock stitching throughout their Stripe Crew to prevent chafing while wearing a backpack or climbing gear. Unlike some performance base layers, the Helly Hansen Stripe Crew has a slightly dropped hem in back for additional coverage when you're skiing or snowboarding. The Helly Hansen Stripe Crew for men features low bulk cuffs for easy glove integration, but the sleeves offer a slightly looser fit compared to the closer fit throughout the torso. Many guys view the loose sleeve fit as an added benefit, especially if they tend to roll up their sleeves after the sun dries out the morning dew.

long sleeves
March 13, 2012

shirt is great, has the quality you would expect from HH. i am 175 lbs and 5/10 athletic. ordered a large it is about right in the chest and shoulders however sleeves are way to long by about 3 inches and i feel i have prety normal length arms. It would be fine if it had thumbholes however it does not so they were just bunching up at the end. I am returning it for a med fit.

Helly Hansen Lifa
January 24, 2012

Great price and good value, the fit was a little tight in the upper chest but the Helly hansen lifa material is the best base layer on the market. It wicks and stretches when needed. The lifa material doesn't cause itching and it breaths better than smart wool or other poly based materials that have caused me issues in the past. I am a 40R and bought a medium but i will return it for a large.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value

Can't Be Beat
November 19, 2011

This is absolutely the best base layer you can buy. You can't beat 100% polypropylene for wicking moisture and staying warm when you're exerting yourself in cold weather. For good reason, it's Government Issue for the armed forces. And I've tried 'em all. Wool is great but can be expensive, itchy or smell. I like silk too but it's expensive and not very durable. Forget about polyester and fleece for undergarments - they don't breathe. While working in HH's Lifa underwear, your perspiration gets transported to the next layer you're wearing. Remember! It's a BASE layer. When you stop, you feel a bit clammy like in any other clothing but with polypro you don't stay wet. The next thing you know, you feel warm, dry and ready to go again. Excellent material. Excellent product. Be sure to read the labels, follow the directions and they'll last for years.

not for midlayer or for main sweater
November 15, 2011

i bought it because i thought i was able to use it as a main sweater, midlayer or baselayer(least likely). anyways, the design and quality are okay for a baselayer but not for other purpose. i just thought it would be thick enough for me to use it as a sweater from the picture online.

Keep Looking
November 11, 2011

Disappointed in this shirt. I have several Helly Hansen jackets and they are great, and I expected this shirt to be, as well. But the fit is small, at least in the large size. And the sleeves do not have thumb loops like similar shirts from North Face and Nike. If you're interested in the Helly Hansen Stripe Crew, I'd keep looking for another shirt.

Pros: Build quality
Cons: poor fit

A great product
February 23, 2011

I purchased the top a few months ago and have used it running in cold weather and downhill skiing. The top does an excellent job of wicking away moisture which is key to staying warm in cold weather. A great base layer.

Love it
January 30, 2011

I use this base layer for skiing. I am 6 feet tall 175lbs and ordered a large. It fits snugly as it's supposed to and most importantly it stays dry during heavy activity. After using cotton t-shirts for years as a base layer I would always be soaked after skiing. This material does not absorb sweat and is thin enough to not be overly hot. So far I have used it down to around 0F with just a mid layer and insulated jacket without being cold even while on the lifts. Highly recommended. Just be careful not to put in in the dryer! I melted my first one.........

Does the job
December 05, 2010

This is a nice-looking top that I sometimes put on for casual wear. It's comfortable and leaves me neither too hot nor too cold. Athletic fit: I have a medium, weigh 130#, and the shirt is form-fitting.

I am very happy with this product. Great base layer with good moisture management properties. Looks solid under a T for leisure wear as well. I have a couple.

Helly Hanson Stripe crew Top
December 30, 2009

I bouhgt my Strioe crew neck shirt and really like the way it fits. It can be worn as a primary shirt due to it's good looks or a secondary shirt. It's just a all around under garmet and is warm also.. Would buy another.
