January 20, 2012

This coat is wonderful. Unfortunately, I should have listened to the reviews. It does run a bit small. I am returning it for one size larger. I have other Columbia jackets that are medium but in this jacket, I will need a large. Looking forward to wearing my jacket in a new size.

Great coat
January 14, 2012

I bought this coat as a new snowboarder and with the recommendation from a friend who has the men's equivalent. The first time I wore it, it was pour rain. Though it wasn't too cold out I stayed very dry and was very pleased. It fits a little weirdly primarily tight in the shoulders but I think it's more me than the coat. The only thing I dislike is that there is not interior pocket but this is to be understood when there is a removable base layer.

good ski jacket
December 30, 2011

I wanted a 3-n-1 jacket I could use for occasional skiing (in NC or VA) or general winter wear. The Bugaboo was a good fit. I'm 5'2" and about 105 lbs. I ordered the XS which fit well. It's a little smaller than I expected with only room underneath for slim base layers. Since I live in the South, that was just fine with me. I've since tried on a Small in a store and it has more room and would also fit me adequately. I returned this jacket because the Plum color- though pretty- was too much once I saw the whole jacket. Wish they'd relieved the Plum with a nice light grey instead of white. It's too contrasty and I thought I looked like a certain purple dinosaur...

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
Cons: visually seems a little dated, might run a little small

LOVE this coat!
December 29, 2011

I have been wanting a 3-in-1 coat for a while, and I compared several brands online. I considered buying a North Face since it's quite popular, but I went with the Bugaboo after reading all the good reviews. For the price, I'm glad I chose Columbia. The coat is very well-made and has a great design. The liner zips in and out with ease, and it doesn't bulk under the shell. There are snaps in the cuffs and collar that keep the liner in place. The zippered pockets and drawstrings are nice additions to the shell. Also, I like that the hood detaches when all I need is a light windbreaker. The liner is warm enough for every day use during the South's (mostly) mild winters. The fabric is soft and comfortable, and it is nicely form fitting. The shell does a great job keeping out wind and rain. Even though it's lightweight, it's warmer than I thought it would be since the wind isn't seeping through the seams. When liner and shell are combined, I find that it is plenty warm when it does get blustery outside. I was plenty comfortable in the mid 30's for several hours at night. Overall, I think it's the best coat I have ever owned. The turquoise/teal is beautiful, and I found it to fit pretty well. It's a great coat for the price! I definitely recommend it, and I am thinking of getting my husband one as well.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Lasts forever, Performance, stylish

Not enough pockets...
December 12, 2011

I purchased Bugaboo Parka for myself and my husband. Can't comment on warmth or durability since we haven't actually tested them on the slopes yet. I did notice that the woman's parka is sadly lacking in pockets compared to the men's. When you attach the fleece lining, you can't access the two pockets that are in the inside of the shell. There are no internal pockets on the fleece like the men's parka. Even on the shell, the men's parka has an extra pocket for cell phone or smaller items that you can access through a vertical zippered pocket about chest level. I'm not sure if the lack of usuable pockets is to keep the "slim" sillouette for the women's jacket but wish there was another pocket on the jacket for small items like keys, id, and credit card besides the main hand warming pockets.

Excellent jacket
November 29, 2011

I purchased this coat for my wife last Christmas and after a year, she still loves it. She uses both the fleece liner and the shell combined and individually all the time. The fit is very flattering and the quality is excellent. This is her favorite out of 5 different coats and jackets.

columbia jacket
July 13, 2011

since it's prime summer - finally - here in mn, it's hard to rate the jacket. It seems to be consistent with Columbia quality and my daughter picked it strictly for the color. She also wanted the hood and a fuzzy inside as her last winter jacket was poly and it was cool against her skin when putting it on and chilly for our cold winters. We hope it is warm as it's only a 3 in 1 vs a 4 in 1. We are not concerned about reversible. She wears the inside jacket in the fall and winter as a stand alone on warmer days recess so we hope that fuzzy interior doesn't pill up. Time will tell on all with use starting as early as October here.

Great Find
June 10, 2011

I had been scouring the internet to find the right jacket for my girlfriend and this one fit the bill. Looks good, fits well, is suitable for most cold outdoor occasions and she loves it. Went with the deep teal/green color combination.

Nice warm jacket
June 08, 2011

I love this jacket. It's warm and waterproof. Perfect for winter and outdoor activities. But the S size is a little bit large for me.I'm 100 pounds and 5.3 feet, XS should have fit me better.

May 22, 2011

This jacket is very warm, or you can wear the liner or shell separately and they are still very comfortable and effective. My only complaint is the jacket is a little bit short. I am 5'5" and ordered a M...the jacket seems to bulk out and not provide enough coverage in the back.

Great Jacket for my Daughter
April 24, 2011

Bought some Columbia bibbies early this season but no jacket to match. I have been waiting for this to go on sale. Glad that we bought it because my 14 yr old will get at least 2 years out of the set. Columbia makes great quality at affordable prices. Good bang for the buck

Nice Jacket
April 11, 2011

My daughter was looking for a new fun, functional ski jacket and this one seems to do the trick. She's very happy with it as she likes the ability to wear with or with out the liner. She also wanted pockets to stash her assorted stuff when skiing and this jacket has plenty of pockets.

So far, so good! Some wrote that this jacket fits too tight, but I feel it's true to size. I'm a size 8-10 woman through the shoulders (ie: broad back, swimmers build) and an athletic 135 lbs. A medium fits snug to the body as you'd want a coat keeping out the cold to do. I bought the black and white wanting a very standard, non-trendy, last me for YEARS jacket that I can use unlined for rainy days and lined for snow activities. I guess once I have a chance to test it out, I'll write more. ;)

I would say this jacket is not fashionable, but it is classic. The outer shell is durable and waterproof. The liner is comfortable wearing alone, which is the best I love about the Bugaboo parka. If you want to buy a perfect jacket that can go with anything, there are many other options on the market, and this one might not be the perfect choice.

March 20, 2011

This parka fits very small and I was freezing in north east winter when wearing it. It also looks cheap, not like the other Colombia products. I am definitely unhappy with my purchase!

Not bad
February 20, 2011

I bought the large size, and I find it uncomfortable to wear the inner and outer layers over a sweatshirt, as I think it fits a little small. The bottom of the zipper did come undone once, so I don't know how it will hold up if I ever do anything very active while wearing it. I also don't think it's quite as warm as I wanted it to be. Sounds like just a so-so review, but I think I had very high expectations of this coat when I ordered it. I was looking to replace another 3-in-1 coat that was extremely warm and durable, but getting old and I wanted a new look. I do like the way it looks and it seems to repel water pretty well. But when the temps dip WAY down as they do in Iowa at times (single digits and below), I will probably go back to the old coat (as well as when I go sledding with my kids)!

My new favorite jacket
January 12, 2011

This jacket is wonderful. It fits great and feels great. I think for extremely cold weather some layers underneath may be needed. But otherwise pretty warm. I got the one in black with bubbles and it looks better in real than in the picture. I am really happy with this purchase. :-)

Women's Bugaboo - Teal
January 06, 2011

The service was great. We received the jacket before Christmas which really surprised me! The jacket is warm and appears to be well made. I like the inside fleece. This looks like it will last awhile. My only negative is that we couldn't get the color we wanted but this is the 2nd choice and it looks real good on.

Super for snow
January 06, 2011

I go snowboarding in this jacket all the time. I usually wear a light hoody underneath and it's super warm. It's waterproof to the max which is great. The resort I go to is constantly blowing snow, and the jacket does a good job of keeping it out. The only thing is the zipper, which is faulty sometimes. The jacket is warm but light enough to snowboard in and not feel bulky. I also love that you can take the inside out because I wear it separately all the time.

Love it!
January 05, 2011

I just got my jacket a few days ago and I am already in love! I live in West Texas, and this time of year the wind is pretty rough, and this jacket has kept me warm! I love that it does not feel bulky like a lot of coats, yet it still keeps me warm and cozy! It seems to run pretty true to size. I am 5'2 and 125 and ordered a medium so I could have some room underneath to layer if necessary and its a perfect fit for how I like it. I would say it runs pretty true to size. My only complaint would be that the little loops that you snap the outer shell into on the sleeves seem a little flimsy and they might wear out after time, but I would not consider that a major flaw, just something that maybe Columbia could improve on. I would recommend this jacket to anyone!

Bugaboo coats
January 01, 2011

Bought two of these coats - one in womens size and one in girls. Womens coat is more tailored. They are good value for the money. Do not have all the bells and whistles of other ski jackets (drawstrings and pockets) but they were warm for skiing for my two daughters.

A great gift
December 27, 2010

I purchased this jacket for my wife for Christmas. She wanted a jacket like she had a couple years back. She told me that it was Columbia, with a detachable fleece liner, water proof, and very warm. I was so happy to find this website with this jacket. She likes it much better than her old one b/c of the fleece lined pocket (which the old one lacked). I liked it b/c of the price. Thank you and I will recommend not only this product but your site as well.

Color disappointing - durability good
December 17, 2010

Altrec shipped the coat immediately. Love this coat-but can't get past the color so had to return it. More blue than I had thought and the fleece liner is too light of a color that will get dirty quick. Too bad! I thought the durability would be very good for daily use.

Decent parka, not super warm
November 22, 2010

Bought this for my wife for the snowy days to come (maybe sooner than expected). It is well designed (lots of pockets in smart places, zipper covers, well-placed velcro) and seems to be of the high quality you'd expect from Columbia. The fleece liner is very soft and warm, but we haven't tested the shell in the rain or snow yet. That said, she was still feeling a little cold on an evening walk wearing the parka and the liner, so this will likely need extra layers underneath this winter. Fortunately, or unfortunately, there is extra room in the torso for layers, so it looks a little boxy by itself. She is 5'3, 125lbs and usually wears a small. Overall a great winter parka, but not for the coldest days without a little extra underneath.

super comfy
November 19, 2010

it came today and i tried it on, started feeling warm all over right away. Super cozy fleece lined pockets were a great feeling too. i would definately reccommend this coat for my son, mother, father, and friends.

Good deal!
November 13, 2010

This place offers the best deal than other stores, the quality of this jacket is very good, warm and the multiple layers really help for skiing.

Great quality, photo is misleading
November 10, 2010

I had purchased this jacket last season and loved it so much that I chose to buy a second in a new color. While the quality and comfort are exactly the same as my first coat, the picture quality on the site was not an accurate depiction. Rather than "bubbles" Columbia should have named this cammo. Not exactly a feminine design. I should have looked for it in a store before making the online purchase. At least Altrec has a great return policy!

GREAT JACKET!!!
November 03, 2010

Love the design and quality! Columbia comes through again! The color (Bright Bluet Bubbles Print) is SO FUN! Love the zip out fleece liner. On the down side, the jacket runs small. I'm 5'3", 110# and ordered a small. It fits well, but can't layer much underneath it.

Thinner then I thought..
November 02, 2010

When I received the Parka I was a bit disappointed since it was thinner than I thought it would be. I'm not sure it will be warm enough on those really cold days in upstate NY or VT. The color that is shown on the site is not accurate ...look to the Nordic Soul Parka - that's the color. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the color...it's just not accurate in the picture. I did read in some of the other reviews that the sizing was off but if you have a Columbia coat already, stick to the current size you have. Columbia is very true to their sizes. I have never had a problem layering under my past coats and I don't think I will have a problem with this one, I just hope that it keeps me warm on those REALLY cold days.

Columbia quality, minor drawbacks
October 23, 2010

I have always worn columbia winter jackets and decided to try the parka this time. The fleece liner is thinner than expected and won't be warm enough for the coldest days in NY. The sizes run small. I typically wear a large but knew enough to order an extra-large. There still isn't enough room for a heavy sweatshirt, particularly around the shoulders/sleeves. Overall the quality is true to Columbia. Their jackets wash great and hold up to many years of use.

nice, too large
October 22, 2010

I ordered a size larger than my size per other reviewers advice and so I could layer, but, alas, it is way too big, so I must return it. I am 5'4'' 130 pounds and usually would have ordered medium. It is warm, the shimmer bubbles fabric is really nice and the color good. I wasn't real thrilled with the way the hood's elastic worked...the pockets were great, the zipper worked well, overall, had it fit, I would have liked it alot.

Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, nice fabric and color

Great Purchase
September 23, 2010

This jacket is the greatest ever! The additional Velcro tabs on the zipper keep out any additional cold. I especially like the zip up pockets on the outside and the stand up collar sure keeps me warm. This was a great purchase for the price and I couldn't be happier.

won't find any better
September 09, 2010

I have a columbia parka from at least five years ago. Not with the features of this style. They dont wear out-they wash well and never fade. it has been so dependable. This parka is wonderful. Waterproof a big plus. As well as as the removable liner. It is a comfortable jacket. I did size up one size and I'm glad I did. Don't like confining coats. Also the sleeves are long enough. And I am tall with long arms. I am sure this will serve me well for several years. Thanks Altrec for quick and efficient service.
