Great Jacket
April 03, 2012

This is a great jacket. It provides the ultimate in water protection with a little warmth to boot (even though it is a shell). The best part about the jacket is that the chin area allows for a lot of room. I have had other jackets in the past that would interfere with my scruff but the chin area of this jacket goes out and really covers you up. I have not yet tried this on the slopes but I cannot wait until 2013 to give it a try!

AK does it again
March 30, 2012

I bought the AK Stagger in Hind Resin. I got a ton of props on the mt. The jacket kept me dry and toasty... The pit-zips helped on the warm sunny days... allowed plenty of air flow while shreddin the mt. I would recommend this jacket to anyone.

Good Shell
January 20, 2012

This is an excellent shell jacket. I been attempting new tricks and falling a lot and this thing keeps my dry all day. As stated, it is only a shell and you will need to add some layers on the cold days but they run big so don't worry about ordering something one size up so that you can fit layers underneath. Good quality in the materials and the zippers. I would definitely recommend this.

Men's AK 2L Stagger is my go to shell on the Mt.!
November 10, 2011

This jacket is actually more of a waterproof shell. Size- It runs slightly big, not much though and that comes in handy for layers because after all it is a shell! Durabilty-The best out there. Thats why your paying more. The lifetime warranty says it all. Water/wind resistance-As good as its gonna get My take-This jacket is worth every penny. Pick a color you can work with because you'll have it for a long time!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value
Cons: Cost
Comfort: 5 / 5

Burton AK - always amazing
October 12, 2011

Burton AK is reputatble for it's highend quality, while at affordable price. Although it is just an outer shell and you will have to wear under shirts to keep warm, it will definitely keep you light and dry. With the cool look and the flexibility for add layers and taking off layers, AK makes an ideal outer jacket for any condition.

Cons: could have more inner pockets and things

Stay dry and warm with this bullet-proof shell
August 17, 2011

For those in the know, layering is the best way to be prepared for all of the possible winter conditions. The most important piece of this equation is a bullet-proof GoreTex shell jacket. If your outerwear is not capable of keeping you dry, it doesn't really matter what you have underneath. This shell from Burton is a classic example of what I am referring to. This one is totally nuts, I think it can handle any conditions, period! Plenty of beefy pockets, venting for the days that are warmer than expected, etc. And, since it's GoreTex, forget about the worries about weather. Simply go with a solid wicking base layer, some type of fleece and this jacket and you are done. Same approach with the lower body, although you can get by with less down below. I highly recommend this shell as it is going to last FOREVER!!

Great jacket, well-designed
March 18, 2011

I just got this and I'm very happy with the purchase. Sizing is a bit weird -- I'm 5'11", 210 lbs and went with the XL. I've got plenty of room in the chest and shoulders. Arms are a bit long and overall jacket length is long, but I'm thinking it was designed that way to keep the powder out. When the powder skirt is snapped up it's pretty much at the bottom of my butt. A little shorter would be OK but I wouldn't want to sacrifice the room upstairs. Features are very well-thought out and I'm looking forward to getting it out on the mountain. Jacket has some insulation and with a base layer should probably be fine for all but the coldest days. Hood won't fit over a helmet but it should stay out of the way. This version of the jacket, which I think is last years' model, still has the zip-link jacket to pant interface, but I don't think the current (2010-11) model does. This one also has the snaps to connect up jacket to pants without the zipper, but obviously the zipper is a better idea if your pants have that feature. Overall, great jacket and Burton stuff typically lasts a long time. Got my last Burton jacket and pants 10 years ago, and they're still in good shape but will now be relegated to backup status. I'd say it's worth full price, but at end of season sale prices, it's a steal.

good jacket, weird fit (for me)
February 24, 2011

I didn't use this jacket outside as it didn't fit great so this is more of a sizing review than a performance review. The quality of materials and construction is really good, I like the features on it like pit zips, powder skirt, pocket placement, etc. I would describe the fit as long and narrow. I am 5'11, 170lbs and wanted a backcountry jacket (not too huge) so i got the medium. In almost every way it is perfect except the shoulder area is cut so narrow that it really restricts movement and makes the sleeves ride up when i reach forward or up, despite how excessively long they are. I will likely order the large and see how that fits as i think the rest of the jacket was great. I will report back when I find out how it fits.

this will work
November 10, 2010

I have had several gore tex jackets over the years. this one will work fine for the La Nina winter everyone is predicting. I havent been on the mountain yet with it, but have wore it around town in some downpours (in Tacoma). The gore tex is doing what it is supposed to do! Also, I cant wait to zip it into the Analog pants to make a "poor mans" one-piece (cause we are gonna get sooo much powder this winter!!!!) it really seems like a solid jacket.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Great jacket! Cool look
July 01, 2010

I bought the jacket off season so I haven't had a chance to put it to use on the mtn. But it's a great looking jacket, nice long sleeves, light weight with tons of pockets.

GREAT Quality and Style
April 17, 2010

Purchased the Sorcerer color, alot nicer in person. Great in all winter conditions. Kept me nice and dry in the worst conditions. I only buy AK BURTON snowboard gear.
